514 Outfit Post – La Croissanterie Figaro, Recycling and French Inspiration
The Figaro cafe is tucked away in Outremont Montreal on the corner of a quiet street. As soon as you walk in, you are taken away to a make believe Parisian cafe… everything in here (including the delicious eats) screams Paris to me (have you noticed at all lately how badly I want to go???). Must definitely test this theory when I make it over there sometime in the new year
The cafe has a vintage, baroque feel to it. Gold patio looking chairs matched with marble circular tables. Nothing renovated and new, lit fluorescently or modern. Just lots of natural light shining in through the front of the storefront-style windows.
On the weekend this place is packed and alive with Fashionista’s of a European demeanor chit-chattering away about last nights wild party (their amazing cafe lattes here will help you snap out of any hangover). Today however it was really nice to experience it in a new more relaxed light.
BTW… I am running low on my latte donation account! So please, don’t be shy with fuelling this Fashionista’s quest via caffeine
This big bowl of love is courtesy of Milan in Vancouver (he is the genius to thank for my new blog layout – and this mornings warm foamy bowl of love). Thank you Milan!!!
This is the kind of place I can see myself wearing that beautiful Katrin Leblond black striped rosebud transparency top… with M.A.C. russian red lipstick… Oooooohhhhh… I MUST go back and snatch that shirt up – it has been haunting me since I saw it (in the greatest of ways but of course).
Hand written menu’s on chalkboards… symbolic of fresh culinary inspiration… Mmmmm…
Still CRAZY about my Stephen Webster spiked earrings… thanks Babe! SUCH a great British fashion find! Edge me on! Send it my way! If there is one think I am all for it’s Union Jack EVERYTHING! In search for my very own clutch to compliment my future Mini convertible mirrors…. ;p
My favorite thing on the menu? Well, beside their croissants (that melt in your mouth like butter if I MAY say so) their brunch plate is a delicious crepe/egg/ham and cheese hybrid that tastes excellent drowned in pure maple syrup (that’s right folks… we don’t play around here in Canada. Bring on the maple syrup – or go home).
My weak spot.
For those of you who tune in to check out my 514 Outfit Posts, it will come as no surprise when I mention that my Gucci watch has been a true staple ever since I got it a year ago. I can’t say I’m a real watch person, I do love the functionality of it though. I love that it looks more like a nice bracelet than anything else. Horse bits are a personal favorite of mine as I ride on and off for fun. It’s a good reminder of something I love and pretty resilient due to it’s scratch resistant sapphire face (that’s right folks… glass is OLD news). A little bit abstract, a lot gorgeous. I think I will still be wearing this when the watch stops working…
I spy with my little eye… boyfriend photographers hiding behind ultra chic menu’s! I owe a lot of the “feel” of my blog to him. He takes all the pictures you see in my posts from a place of love – I hope you get to feel a bit of the moment through the pictures of what we both find to be beautiful.
How could you not want to spend the whole afternoon here?
The amazing Audrey at Holt’s showed me this Religion dress/shirt and I fell in love instantaneously. The whole back down to my waist is fringed like this. Such an unexpected beautiful detail for a simple cotton dress. Details are what makes me tick.
Whoever says knockoffs are not acceptable has no idea what they are talking about. I adore my Ray Ban fakies as much as my authentic ones. Style is style… names don’t even factor in when something is made right be it cheap or not. PEOPLE OF THE WORLD – EMBRACE THE ELVIS IMPERSONATORS OF THE MATERIAL FASHION WORLD! HOLLA!
Aldo ring and trusty opaque Woolford tights…
Jacob grey sweater hoody, Logan scarf (told you I was inseparable), Nine West booties and DVF leather jacket…
And just so you get something morally correct out of this post – Recycle! In my case I am promoting fashion recycling! Swap, trade, thrift shop hunt or alter! Don’t let those beautiful threads go to waste when someone else can be giving them the love they deserve!
The bag I always reach for… my Marc by Marc in black.
Have a beautiful day
