514 Outfit Post – Resolving the New Year in D&G
Boy it feels good to be back and running! Nothing like a good amount of time off from everything to sort out all the garbage in your life and refocus your dreams and goals on new hind sights
. Honestly, being alone with myself, pug and my man (and hoards of Nip/Tuck on DVD) has brought so much new inspiration and hope for the up and coming new year.
This year, I vow to be a better person on a whole. Over the holidays, it was so nice to have family and friends all come together and do nothing more than spend time. No distractions, no ulterior motives. Just spending time and discovering more about each other’s lives. I want to be a better person to those who actually care about my overall well being, and not on those who only suck my energy from me and make my life harder. It is so hard to spot a wolf in sheep’s clothing, especially when listening to your gut instinct (usually it only drops you a hint after it’s far too late). This year, I will not let emotions get the best of me. I will be stronger than that. When my emotions break down, my mind will be there to step in and be the over protector. Time to grow up I fear… this girl’s grown another shell.
This year, it’s time to get real. About my career, about my interests, about my future. I don’t want to work harder, I want to work smarter. I want to start putting money away for my future house, travels and children. I have been contributing every month to a RSP and GIC fund since I was nineteen… but I want to take it to the next step. In fashion (as well as in a growing number of trades) it is very hard to find something dependable that ensures the well being of your retirement and future lifestyle. I command an ever-growing and bettering way of living and refuse to cut myself short. So, I am taking responsibility for it. I will never stop indulging. This is what makes life so beautiful and special – the ability to treat yourself to the things you love. However, I have been very good at spoiling myself for many years now and have accumulated a collection of equally loved and sentimentally special favorites… I want to enjoy them and live a bit more minimalistic!
I want to invest in my health. There is nothing in the world that can make you wealthier than having perfect health. I have never been one for the gym (and the mindless television sets put up to entertain you), always preferring sports hidden away as fun activities or hobbies. Horseback riding, skiing, hiking, rock climbing, dancing… you know… things that don’t seem like exercise when you are fully emerged doing them. This year I will pick at least one and attempt to master it. I am thinking burlesque striptease stuff… I have done it in the past and loved it, why not go full on again and embrace the playful beauty of the art and sensuality? Now to find a fitting studio…
Food is detrimental to the health equation… so this year will be full of healthy eats (no weird diets, I have never tried or been a fan of eating fads – I have too much respect for food), more homemade and more veggie and fruit intake! Less meat, more of my favorite veggie substitutes like tofu and seitan. Yums! I was vegetarian for about five years, so I have developed a strong love for vegetarian and vegan cuisine. Some things are just tastier (not to mention healthier) without meat!
Other than that, I want to travel, have more fun, learn (the day I stop learning and working on my self is the day I don’t want to be alive), and experience. People, cultures, religions. Set my judgements on the side and look on the side of compassion and care. Put myself in others shoes and embrace their point of view.
… moving on past my new years resolutions, how amazing are the next few pictures of food? On Christmas day we went both to my mom and Vlad’s moms house (his grandfather is in from Romania – such an old fashioned gentleman… can you believe he kisses my hand every time he sees me?). We didn’t get to eat the marvelousness that my mom made for the family, but check out the feast that Vlad’s mom made – to DIE for!

Another great post. It’s very healthy to pause and reflect. Robyn, you have very strong points of view. I’ve got to love a woman with direction. She makes a great role model for others
Superb pics, as always. LOVE the pug, she’s a doll xx

Nice resolutions. Your musings about your career situation made me think about the post that I have found most useful recently while reflecting on my own career aspirations. Here is a link:

Also, I agree that some foods are just better as vegan/vegetarian. Plus, for me, food isn’t just what it tastes like. It is also how I feel after I eat it. When I eat really heavy, meat-laden meals, I just don’t feel good.
That dress is so HAWT. No wonder grandpa always kisses your hand.
