514 Outfit Post – Turtleneck’d Tummy
This morning kicked off with wicked french toast (if I may say so myself), prolonged snuggles with the man in bed, and timelessly ran on until now. Bliss. Watched Ina May’s Birth Story documentary last night with my love, and discovered a newfound strength and confidence through the women featured. 70’s ladies were tough stuff (I want nothing more but to emulate their deep rooted zen when it comes to natural childbirth). Which brings me to my most recent reality check… no more than a month to go before I meet little man and become a mom (crazy!).
Staying shacked up and warm has had me really enjoying this winter (as brutal as it’s being made out to be). When you surround yourself with honey, tea, blankets, projects, soft music, and comfy layers – you welcome the chill (and yearn hiding from it). Amongst my favourite wardrobe go-to’s has been my side zip turtleneck, equestrian style maternity stretch pants, and the man’s wool winter jackets. Boxy, sure. But when you’ve got a bump to cover, it seems to all balance out while keeping me toasty. There’s something I really love about a menswear/layering influence when it comes to maternity style. While most try to steer clear of losing themselves in the bagginess man threads can lend, I raid my at-home options for it. Evenings have become laid back with stretchy black lace lingerie topped off with one of the man’s white dress shirts.
Turtlenecks that replace scarves (but when I’m not wearing them, masculine cashmere scarves feel so good right now), dainty chain linked purses contrasting bold outerwear cuts, Calvin Klein long johns and undershirts at home… a few of the things that go missing in his closet…
What I’m Wearing
- Thyme maternity side zip turtleneck (the warmest – closed coat optional)
- Thyme maternity stretch skinny work pants (I love that they have pockets)
- Club Monaco men’s wool coat
- Mia Limited Edition boots
- Chanel purse
P.S. Stick around… there’s a fun Valentine’s giveaway popping up shortly for all you American readers out there!Posted under 514 Outfit Post, maternity, pregnancy by Robyn
