How To Grow Lemongrass Uk
When lemon grass plants are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Plant lemon grass outdoors, in a warm, sheltered spot at 30cm (12") apart, on moist, well drained soil, in full sun.
- Lemon grass needs warm, humid conditions. The best way to grow it is on a heated mat or propagating tray but it will not survive winter in an unheated greenhouse.
- It can be planted directly into the ground, or if space is an issue, then it can be grown in a container although you may need a decent sized pot as lemongrass can grow to a height of over 1 m (3 ft).
- Lush, aromatic lemon grass (Cymbopogon citratus) can fit into any garden — even if only for one season.
