Currently Coveting – Bathroom Upgrades

There can be no greater comfort than making your living space more luxe in both big and small ways.  Accessories and accents can ham up a place and make it a home, but a full blown reno project can deliver the dream space normally reserved for architectural glossies.  While I love the minimalism of my loft, there have definitely been areas my man and I have discussed making over.  Sleek upgrades and practical inserts to enable transformative lifestyle design and enjoyment.   Our bathroom happens to mutually be one of our favourite spots (we have one of those showers you never want to step out of), and being big fans of Norwegian-inspired hot/cold spas, eucalyptus steam rooms and waterfall hydro-therapy – improving it is first on our modification list.  Since there is nothing I love more than curating and window shopping for creature comforts online, I give you a few of my favourite visuals and must-haves for your weekend daydream pleasure…

If you love interior design inspiration, I’ve just discovered Houzz (quite a fun browsing app to curate and generate ideas for your own eventual improvement projects).  Basically your adapted version of Pinterest broken down by room, furnishings, and even specialty features (like how to incorporate a murphy bed or wine cellar into your living space), it opens your mind up to total transformation.  While it may be suited best for residential interiors, materials and textures used around the world (in commercial spaces) slip into your searches for a fresh perspective on the everyday.  Full stone walls, spa-like finishes with coveted views, a bowl sink in an unexpected shape or colour… perhaps you’ve always dreamt of an open concept bathroom that brings the outdoors in via sliding glass door and wooden terrace?

If you’ve ever had a vision, someone on Houzz has most likely materialized it to some capacity (and what’s better than previewing someone else’s success with an idea that may be a little outside the box before you attempt?).  Beyond bathrooms, I love this site for their nursery and kids rooms ideas.  Right now we’re loft living with little one (he’s still too small and immobile to need much of his own space), but soon enough I’ll have the pleasure of filling a toddlers room with dreamy accents, toys, and furnishings (saving up now…).  Eventually, when the man and I buy a house with a backyard – garden party here I come!  Barbecue sanctuary and benched fire pit is on the list (right beside office treehouse and teeny tiny kiddo playhouse).  Where I used to get excited about transferring design ideas to clothing and shoes, I’ve become intrigued with the concept of building atmospheres to compliment lifestyle visions.  Tell me you don’t want to hammock-lounge in your living room with a great read…

Happy hunting!
