514 Outfit Post – Brand Loyalty

I’m moving tomorrow, into the condo of my dreams!

It feels so incredibly amazing to have made this move, I feel like I am well on my way to achieving balance and a solid base to jump off of regarding wherever my endeavors may take me (I have a home base!).  I’m not sure I’ve ever been so happy with the realizations of life continuously being thrown at me.  I’ve come to a point where acceptance of the harder things (which I find are usually the most rewarding if you see them through), are a given… not heartbreaking or trying.  It helps when you change your expectations to battle mode… ensures you’re on it (even the smaller tasks).

On a separate note, a part of my video feature with Erno Laszlo is now online!  Check it out at the end of this post…

I’ve always admired those who stay loyal and true to an effective product line/businesses they believe in.  I for one experience it first hand every day with my interns and assistants.  It is honouring to have such an amazing force of motivated energy around me and my company.  Likeminded individuals who are in it to grow and experience as much as I am… it’s really humbling to know that you’ve produced something other people want to be a part of.

When you are lucky enough to have the confidence of others (in your capabilities and vision), it is so important to pay it forward and treat people well.  As an entrepreneur, you have the power to change lives, form insights, fuel drive and determination.  As great of a responsibility as it is, it is also the greatest reward (you learn to apply peoples personalities and talents accordingly).

With the above mentioned, I’m very much a creature of fashion/beauty habit.  Once I find a brand that works for me, I usually stick to it.  It really does make life simpler when you have go-to sources for everything!  A huge factor beyond composition, fit, and shade is the company’s manifesto/philosophy.  Something valuable always shines through just the material make-up.  I love DVF not only because of the quality threads and fun prints that suit my style (not to mention perfectly fit my body type), but also because of the exceptional woman Diane has proved to be throughout the journey of her life.  Erno Laszlo means something to me not only because my skin has never been better, but because of it’s rich history and amazing team.  They have shown me constant support that is invaluable.  I like knowing who I’m paying (and it’s process) when I invest in anything from a pair of shoes to a sandwich.  Every time you purchase something, you are essentially voting for what you want more of.

This past week I was invited to attend the 7 Virtues fragrance event where the CEO and former company creator Barb Stegemann encouraged media to voice their opinion on their yet-to-be-launched “Middle East Peace” addition to their family of perfumes.  Introducing a blend of Israeli sweetie grapefruit and Iranian Lime & Basil, we got to sniff the different variations and offer advice towards the next in line for production.  For those of you unfamiliar with the brand, the 7 Virtues offers beauty lovers a social platform in which to easily help make a difference.  Promoting and buying some of the worlds best essential oils from war-torn and devastated countries, it allows farmers formerly growing illegal poppy crops (the source of heroine), to win back their business and moral integrity without offending their religious beliefs or compromising their financial rewards.  Business ethics with a bit of bite (and the products themselves are intoxicating).  I fell in love with the Vetiver of Haiti, but each of the other scents have their own heroic story (and are paraben free, vegan, phthalate free, not tested on animals, and made in Canada!) …

Afghanistan Orange Blossom Eau de Parfum – A joyous fragrance layered with notes of freesia and jasmine.  This precious oil is made from delicate orange blossoms harvested by Afghan farmers who bravely choose to tend these ancient groves instead of the poppy crop.

Noble Rose of Afghanistan Eau de Parfum – A spicy fragrance layered with notes of clove, peppercorn, and carnation.  There are 178 hand-picked rose petals in each bottle, harvested by Afghan farmers who courageously transport the oils on the world’s most dangerous highway.

Vetiver of Haiti Eau de Parfum – An uplifting fragrance layered with notes of lime tree, bergamot, and amber.  The organic vetiver of Haiti is considered the best in the world, grown by Haitian farmers whose country was devastated by the earthquakes of 2010.  For both men & women.

Just because we don’t live in a particular country, under the same circumstances, does not mean we are unaccountable or unaffected.  Choose products that enhance both your lifestyle, as well as the individuals who worked to make it.
