514 Outfit Post – Digital Detox
Would You Digitally Detox?
Would I want to?
While I think blogging is constructive, getting lost in a sea of newsfeeds and updates can be downright dizzying (not to mention depressing). While it’s impossible at this point to refrain from my daily posting duties, cutting down on time wasters may just be the web liberation I’m looking for. Would you distance yourself from all social media platforms? Could you take it to the level of cutting the internet completely from your life (yes, this includes back to back Netflix fixes too)? I think I might give it an entry-level spin…
This past weekend I ventured out into the rainy day to enjoy a romp at the market. (Finally) trying one of the infamous Satay Brother’s spicy coconut thai soups as the rain poured down around me was nothing short of bliss. You just can’t beat a hot, hearty meal to chase the dampness away (that meaty shrimp and tofu!).
Among my regular food staple pickups, making an organic (and gluten-free) beef bourguignon for the first time was top of list (I used this Goop recipe, I like how simple their outlook is – not to mention gluten-free friendly). While it turned out a success, next time I’ll be sure to keep the burner lower to preserve more of that bread-soaking delectable juice in tact. So much easier than it’s name projects (and the perfect concoction to put that amazing day old red wine to good use).
(What I’m Wearing: Calvin Klein tee, Paige boyfriend jeans, Coach booties, Marni for H&M windbreaker & John Hardy bamboo hoop earrings)
It’s all about the creature comforts as of late. Home projects, daydreaming, and sleeping in… that’s where it’s at.
Note (should you attempt this recipe): take the white skin-like part of the meat off before cooking (I didn’t like the stringy texture it lent one bit – something I’m sure is a given to most better acquainted with cooking)!
(the final beef bourguignon result…)
Also, it totally made my day that all the food trucks are officially out and about the city as of today (I can’t wait to get me some street grub all summer). And have you heard how crazy the cronut craze has gotten in NYC (there are actual line-waiting jobs where people are turning them over for $50 a piece)! Madness (but understandable… it is part donut after all)…
