514 Outfit Post – Mix & Match Comfort

514 Outfit Post – Mix & Match Comfort

Days out are feeling longer and sleepier.  Instead of put-together outfits, I’m reaching for comfort, simplicity, and warmth for my afternoon walks in the cold.  Hats, mittens, layers, scarves, flats… bring ‘em on.  I’m gaining weight at an incredible speed (little man is packing on the pounds for the final stretch), and my mobility is starting to stifle a bit.  Looking at these pictures, I couldn’t quite believe how much bigger I’ve gotten since my last outfit post.  This (not so) wee one is filling out fast, and is estimated to be between eight and nine pounds at birth.

Impatience and anxiety about what delivering will feel like is creeping in (doctor says labour could begin any day at this point), but with it all, also an incredible calm.  I am mentally pep talking and reminding myself that my body is made to do this, and when all is said and done, no matter the experience, I’ll have my son in my arms.  Staying open and accepting of all possibilities, but strong in my ideologies should I be able to see them through without risk.  While one of my life’s most difficult physical hurdles is inching closer to me daily, I also know I’ll look back at it with great respect and pride for my body and it’s incredible capabilities.  I’m ready with clear sight of how I want to execute the things within my control.

With the mental preparation, comes increased awareness of my daily actions.  Every thing I eat, all the rest I get, every little effort and extra bit of care could be the additional boost that makes labour more comfortable.  I’ve practiced hypnobirthing breathing, visualization, yoga stretches, breastfeeding techniques (I’m already a leaking cow), perineal massage, and have began my daily intake of toning raspberry leaf tea.  I force myself on long walks even when I’d rather be lazing around.  I feel strong, healthy, and well fed (energy up)!

What I’m most looking forward to?

Seeing his face.  It’s torturous not knowing what he looks like!  I can’t wait to see all the traits, characteristics, and personality marks that bring both me and my man’s family together as one – all wrapped up in this new tiny life.

Thinking of my postnatal life, I’m trying to imagine my recovery time, and capabilities afterwards (I’m hoping to be up and at ‘em shortly after birth).  Looking forward to reaching for the same basics I’m wearing in this post for family visits and at-home rest ups (not to mention my after-birth babymoon with the man this summer!).  Pulled from the Thyme Maternity Mix & Match Collection, leggings and stretch shirt combos will top my dressing list until my body shrinks back to it’s original size.  With my assortment of beautiful lace nursing bras, and perhaps a dress shirt or two stolen from the man, my breastfeeding attire will be as low key and versatile as possible.  So looking forward to this time together with my new family!

Piccolo is starting her adjustment (it’s kind of a rocky situation at the moment – rebellious thing)…

What I’m Wearing

  • Thyme Boat-Neck Maternity Tunic (striped tops are a classic must for every preggo – I’ve wanted one since the very beginning!)
  • Thyme Ponte Maternity Pant (as comfortable as leggings, but with a dress pant look – get the most out of this piece by sporting it for date nights, packing it for easy travel, and/or work-related matters)
  • DVF leather jacket
  • Forever 21 loafers
  • American Eagle Outfitters beanie
