Chop, Bob ‘n Fringe – Bangs are Back
70′s seems to be taking over the beauty and fashion world full force, and I’m totally on board. Having just cropped my fairly grown-out locks into a jaw-framing bob (adding some piecey bangs to the mix), I’ve been happily channelling some inner effortless Parisian bed head chic. Usually one for the strict, pulled back and out of the face looks, my aesthetic whims have refocused themselves on the disheveled and mystically pretty. There is something very captivating about messed up pretty, and I’m paralyzed under it’s spell.
While the style itself is a refresher, it’s the lifestyle and associations that really get me dreaming with these looks. The rock n’ roll, traveling band-like carefree attitude it gives off. The, “I’m beautiful without all the extras” (even if extras are apparent in every which way). There is something very liberating with these kind of styles, ones that don’t stand in the way of your day but instead push you to adventure and genuinity (yes, I know this word is not grammatically correct – too pretty to change though). If I had to summarize it all in one word, it would simply be youth. I left the hair dressers feeling like a teenager again, eyes lit up and bright. It made me feel like despite my growing responsibilities and age, the innocent and naive part of me (only wanting to lay in sun-soaked fields of flowers by a beach) still has it’s outlet… incredible what a cut can accomplish, non?
Abbey Lee just might be an ideallic poster girl for what I described above. Enjoy this series of shots of her by photographer Hedi Slimane.
