Ethik Eco Boutique launches Olga Tigirlas’ New Collection!
Last Thursday I was lucky enough to be invited to the new collection launches of Olga Tigirlas, Estrella Bijoux and Deborah Adams at the Ethik Eco Boutique on St. Hubert (6050)… and how awesome it was!
First up, the boutique houses everything fashion-recycled related. Reworked vintage in forms ranging from clothing, to belts, bags and jewelery. Truly astounding when you realize everything has been recovered and brought back to life!
I was super excited to see Olga’s collection in particular as I have admired her designs from a distance (a.k.a. from me stalking her website) for quite a while now.
My babe virtually introduced me and I instantaneously fell in love with what she does! What was formerly a pair of old man trousers gets transformed into a gorgeous cocktail frock, an old sweater jacket into a chic wool dress and vintage tees get braided and studded to texturized perfection .
She is a visual genius when it comes to seeing potential in old pieces of clothing no one has any care for. Just a few hours in her talented hands and it becomes the coveted wardrobe want that it once was in it’s past life.
I am ALL about that silver woven wallet!!! It’s the eco-alternative to Bottega .
Okay… hold on to your hats troops – this bag is made entirely out of old bicycle tires!!! Wicked.
Behold Estrella Bijoux! Using all vintage and recycled beads to form her collection.
Deborah Adams constructs her handbags and belts completely from recycled suede’s and leathers .
This SO reminds me of South African folk art (which I have a mega weakness/intense love for)… they transform old pop cans and bottle caps into toy cars, insects, fruit baskets, airplanes, wind-up toys… only binding everything together via wire. Truly incredible creativity. They have a great selection of art like this at Giraffe on St. Denis here in the 514 (adore this store and would deck out my apartment/studio with all sorts of little trinkets if I had it my way:P).
My gorgeous date for the event! The ravishing Miss Soudeh!
Going through a major nautical quarter-life crisis at the moment… did you know next month I will be turning 25?!? I can’t say I’m freaking, cause I ain’t… I just wanna party and celebrate that I am 1/4 closer to reaching my living to be 100 goal .
Any ideas for what I should do for a b-day bash? I’m thinking of throwing a mega party in my studio and anyone who wants to come can just show… portes ouvertes style… champagne, wine, food, dj… and YOU! If you would actually come, let me know and I will seriously go through with it – could be all sorts of magical .
Alright… focus Robyn, focus. Back to Olga (who made the above tunic I am mega crushing on… oh so Paris!)…
… and the beautiful hand sewn flower appliques she adorned this halter dress with…
… and of course the amazing classic t-shirts that she twists and braids back to fabulosity! The black t-shirt dress she sent me is one of my favorite layering pieces (cannot wait to wear it with jean shorts when the weather permits)!
And here is the gorgeous girl herself!
She is Romanian (as is Vlad), so I showed off with the few words I have to-date taught myself via family gatherings and iPhone language tutorials (which, for the record consists of mostly fruits and ice cream… y’know… the important stuff…). Gotta polish my language skills a little more before the next time I see ya girl!
Olga’s designs will soon be available on my little (slowly evolving) fashion shop… . Claiming that I can’t wait just could be the understatement of the century!
Soudeh (left), Deborah Adams (center), and Olga Tigirlas (right)… how lucky am I to be surrounded by beautiful ladies?!?
You see, if any of my guy friends were actually smart they’d hang out with me and come with me to all these girlie fashion things… jus’ puttin’ it out there…
After the fashion show (which I mostly missed cause of traffic issues), Soudeh and I headed out for some delish Portuguese chicken together. Damn was it awesome!
… but not before we met some lovely pedestrians who couldn’t resist a photo op !
Just another reason why Montreal rocks my socks!
