Jill Stuart FW13 & Pierced Passion

Like anyone whose ever started the addictive frenzy associated to piercings and tattoos, I reignited mine in Soho, New York. It started innocently enough… British Vogue after check-in, tomato juice and pretzel sticks while flipping through it’s countless editorials, until WHAM – my eyes wouldn’t allow me to go any further. Maria Tash is an established name in the piercing industry amongst celebrities and locals alike (and after the spread I was witnessing, it made complete sense). Her delicate designs take the punk and rebelliousness out of the art, and turn it to sheer luxury. Shapes and materials I’ve never really experienced from a piercing shop… white golds, diamonds and semi-precious, delicate and feminine designs. Of course, without the editorial I might have never been able to imagine all the gorgeous possibilities from just over the counter viewing (another Vogue destiny moment). With a walk-in friendly atmosphere (I can’t stand appointment places, I really don’t care how popular you are as an artist), I got my tragus pierced. With a stud whose design mimicks that of one a Bollywood goddess would sport, I have caught the piercing itch and will be heading back to the studio my next trip to go through with the diamond cartilage ring (it’s so beautiful I can’t stop googling it). I’m pretty sure I’ll be blogging about this for a while, possibly even planning escape weekend trips to NYC to fulfill my fantasy…

The man and I also came quite close to getting tattoos of each other’s names/initials while in the big apple… once we’ve found the exact fonts we’re after, it’s on baby…
